Volunteer information

West Routt Fire Protection District is a combination department comprised of full-time, part-time, and volunteer firefighters. Whether you are a paid member or volunteer, the tasks are the same, as we take our responsibility toward public safety and professional services very seriously.

Department Overview

West Routt Fire Protection District was established in 1972 under Title 32 of the Colorado Revised Statutes for Special Districts. The district has one fire station, in the heart of Hayden. We are responsible for all hazard emergencies including EMS, motor-vehicle accidents, structure fires, and wildland fires within our district and will respond to needs in adjacent areas with no fire district coverage. We also have strong relationships with our neighboring emergency services agencies and may be called to assist them. We maintain a combination paid/volunteer staff of approximately 25 members.
