Seeking Funds this November 2021

Current West Routt Fire Protection District Information

Serving a district of 220 square miles of Routt County, including the Town of Hayden, and a total response area of 540 square miles. Charged with protecting $321,839,746.00 of real property and district residents. WRFPD is an All-Hazards Response Agency with one fire station placed in the response area for coverage.

Five career, five part-time, and 11 volunteer fire members provide a total of 21 responders with 11 of those personnel cross trained in Fire and Emergency medical services. Administrative staff work Monday through Friday, 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. One responder is on shift 24/7, relying on personnel responding from home after hours.

Overall, call volume has increased in recent years, while revenue has decreased approximately five percent per year over the last four years and due to energy industry projections, we will see a significant decrease beginning in 2022.

West Routt personnel are responsible for all emergency calls and training. Staff are also responsible for maintenance of aging vehicles, equipment and facilities, with additional administrative tasks assigned.

The Proposed 3 mil Property Tax Increase by Ballot Initiative Will Cost:

  • Each residential property approximately $21.45 per $100,000.00 of assessed value per year.

  • Each commercial property approximately $87.00 per $100,000.00 of assessed value per year.

Your Support Will Ensure Funding to:

  • Maintain budgetary needs for current fire and emergency services operations by combating lost revenue caused by property devaluations, and impacts projected to affect our energy industry.

  • Increase our staffing model to meet the service demands, decrease response time and safely deliver emergency response due to the decrease in volunteer medical providers.

  • Ensure a revenue source to address the capital improvement needs of the response area, i.e. needed existing apparatus upgrades and building / grounds repair.
